The recreational opportunities in and around Chambers County are wide reaching. In addition to plentiful opportunities for exceptional hunting, fishing and golf, the county’s location offers prime access to both major college and professional sporting events.

Numerous community events take place throughout the year in Chambers County. Valley is home to the famous Christmas Merry-Go-Round each winter, LaFayette hosts two Professional Cowboy Association rodeos each spring and fall at the state-of-the-art Chambers County Agricultural Park and the county schools offer some of the best high school sports action in the state.

Outdoor opportunities in Chambers County include the Chattahoochee River, the 27,000-acre West Point Lake, the Chambers County Lake, the Point University Golf Course and the Valley Community Center. Just a short drive away is Auburn University, home to some of the best Southeastern Conference (SEC) sporting events, and the world renowned Robert Trent Jones Championship Golf Course at Grand National. Other nearby attractions include, Penton Raceway, Lake Harding, Calloway Gardens, Talladega Superspeedway, Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park, Chewacla State Park, Lake Martin and Atlanta Braves, Hawks and Falcons professional sports.

  • Valley Community Center

    The City of Valley's new 54,000 square-foot community center has many features, including an indoor pool, two racquet ball courts, two gyms that can be opened into a large meeting room to serve as a community center, a fitness center, game room, catering/kitchen, and indoor walking track.
  • Point University Golf Course

    In 2015, Point University was gifted the Riverside Country Club, a golf, tennis, dining and events center located in Lanett. As home to the Point Skyhawks golf team, the course will provide a top-notch practice facility and a challenging course for competitive match play.

    The 18 hole course at Point University Golf Club is a pleasure to play for golfers of any skill level.

    The Point University Golf Club will primarily be used to accommodate the public’s need for recreational golf and dining facilities. Heart of the South Restaurant provides event planning and meal service during the week in addition to offering on-site catering services.

    The club’s events center is an excellent site for business meetings and training sessions, social clubs, church group outings and wedding receptions.

  • Chambers County Lake

    The Chambers County Lake is a 183-acre public fishing lake made possible by the combined efforts and cooperation of the people of Chambers County and the Alabama Department of Conservation. It is located five miles southeast of LaFayette on Chambers County Road 83. Amenities at the lake in include a boat ramp, fishing pier, restrooms, concessions (bait, tackle and snacks), and a primitive camping site. It also offers an entry point to the Piedmont Birding Trail (http://alabamabirdingtrails.com/trails/piedmont-plateau/page/2/) and is home to two majestic bald eagles. Fish species present in the lake include largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, channel catfish and crappie.
  • Chattahoochee River

    The Chattahoochee River forms the southeastern border of Alabama and Georgia, and is divided by a series of damns, including West Point Dam. It offers exceptional fishing, paddling and hiking. Recently Valley partnered with The Trust for Public Land to create a paddling trail along a beautiful, 52-mile stretch of the river. The Blueway Water Trail (https://www.tpl.org/our-work/our-land-and-water/chattahoochee-valley-blueway) will include launch points, portages, and camp spots for canoeists, paddle boarders, and kayakers.
  • West Point Lake

    West Point Lake extends 35 miles along the Chattahoochee River on the Alabama-Georgia state line. The lake's 500 miles of shoreline provides excellent opportunities for fishing, camping, boating and other recreational activities.
  • Lake Harding

    Lake Harding, also known as Bartlett's Ferry Lake, is a 5,850-acre reservoir on the Chattahoochee River. Bartlett’s Ferry Dam forms the lake, and the lake is located in Harris County, Georgia with some portions of the lake going into Alabama. Lake Harding is a deep lake with a depth of over 100 feet (30 m) at the dam itself.
  • Penton Raceway

    Penton Raceway is a 3/8-mile clay oval that hosts weekly dirt track racing throughout the spring and summer. Located just north of LaFayette, the track is locally owned and hosts several racing divisions including, Bandits, Hobby, Limited Sportsman, and Crate Late Models. Special events include NeSmith Super Late Model Series, Sprint Cars and the Alabama Crate Mini Series.
