3.3.09 Alabama 2008 New and Expanding Industry Report
The Cities of Lanett and Valley, as well as two of our industrial parks, lie along Interstate 85, providing direct north-south access to Atlanta or Montgomery. Other major arteries include US 280 to Birmingham and Columbus, Georgia, and US 431.
Commercial air transportation is available 71 miles northeast at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, 40 miles southeast at Columbus Regional Airport, 20 miles south at Auburn-Opelika Airport, and 23 miles north at LaGrange Callaway Airport.
The Lanett Municipal Airport has undergone almost $2,000,000 in upgrades including a resurfaced asphalt airstrip with clear safety zones, a new directional windsock with a segmented circle and a new beacon tower. The LL 100 fuel is self serve and available 24/7. By the end of 2008, new corporate and cabin craft hangers, a new runway lighting system and an electronic security gate will be installed. Additionally, the City of Lanett has been given notice that the FAA will fund an environmental study for a new additional runway. This city-owned resource is adjacent to Interstate 85 and the Huguley Industrial Parks, and just seven minutes away from Cusseta Industrial Park.
Rail service is provided by CSX and port facilities are available within 45 miles in Phenix City, Alabama as well as in Mobile, Alabama and Savannah, Georgia.
